-
A Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) is a licensed healthcare professional with extensive training. Dietitians are required to hold a master’s degree in nutrition or a related field, complete a supervised internship of 1,200+ hours, pass a national exam, and maintain certification through continuing education to stay current with the latest research and practices. In Texas, RDs are licensed to work with medical conditions and provide evidence-based nutrition care.
In contrast, the title “nutritionist” is not regulated. This means anyone can use the title regardless of education, training, or experience.
Note: Our team at Amezola Nutrition consists of federally accredited Registered Dietitians (RDs) who meet rigorous education and CDR exam standards.
-
Yes! Amezola Nutrition accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), UnitedHealthcare (UHC), and Aetna.
Coverage, copays, deductibles, and visit limits vary by plan. Clients are responsible for verifying benefits before scheduling.
-
Amezola Nutrition does not treat diagnosed eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or ARFID. However, we specialize in supporting adults with disordered eating behaviors, including chronic dieting, restrictive eating, emotional or boredom-related eating, overeating, and unhealthy relationships with food or body image. These behaviors are common in today’s “diet culture” and can benefit from safe, individualized nutrition guidance and strategies to build a healthier relationship with food.
-
For adults looking to plan, optimize, or safely modify a plant-based diet, a Registered Dietitian (RD)—sometimes referred to as a plant-based nutritionist—is the most qualified professional. RDs provide expert guidance on nutrient balance, meal planning, and overall wellness.
If you need medical diagnosis, lab work, or prescriptions, a plant-based doctor is the right professional to consult.
-
Our team specializes in plant-based nutrition for women’s health, but we also support adults (18+) of all genders with a wide range of other needs, including:
Sports nutrition
IBS and digestive health
Weight management
Pregnancy and lactation
Hormonal support (menopause/perimenopause)
Intuitive and mindful eating
Please note: We work exclusively with adults ages 18 and older.
-
Yes! We are a 100% virtual practice. Virtual appointments are available and conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform called Practice Better.
-
Initial appointments typically last 55-75 minutes, and follow-up appointments are usually 25-55 minutes, depending on your needs.
-
Your first session is dedicated to getting to know you and building a strong foundation for your nutrition plan. The provider will take a deep dive into your:
Medical history – past and current conditions, lab results, and health concerns
Medications and supplements – what you’re taking and how it may impact nutrition
Nutrition habits – current eating patterns, preferences, and challenges
Lifestyle factors – activity level, sleep, stress, and routines
Health goals – short-term and long-term objectives
This comprehensive assessment allows us to create a personalized, realistic plan that is tailored to your needs and informs all follow-up sessions, ensuring your plan is effective, sustainable, and aligned with your goals.
-
To get the most out of your first session, we recommend having the following ready:
Recent lab results or medical procedure records
A list of current medications and supplements
Any other relevant health information
All documents and information can be uploaded in advance through the Practice Better client portal. Your provider and you will review these together during the session to ensure a thorough understanding and create a personalized plan.
-
Since the first session is primarily focused on getting to know you, clients need more than one session to see meaningful results. Progress takes time, and the total number of sessions is individualized based on your goals and needs.
Sessions are usually scheduled every 2–3 weeks, and your provider will work with you to create a schedule that fits your goals and lifestyle.
